08 May 2023 funding
The German Research Foundation (DFG) decided on Friday to fund the RTG “Neuroexplicit Models of Language, Vision, and Action”, initially for five years.
The Research Training Group will bring together up to 24 PhD students to do research on models for natural language processing, computer vision, and action decision making that combine neural models with human-interpretable (“explicit”) models. Such neuroexplicit models include neurosymbolic models, which have received increasing attention over the past few years. We will also carry out foundational research on machine learning to identify general design principles that will simplify the development of future neuroexplicit models.
We will advertise the first positions for six PhD students and one postdoc shortly. These positions will start in October 2023. We will also advertise positions for an RTG coordinator and an RTG secretary.
For more details, see the joint press release of Saarland University and the participating institutes and the RTG website.
